Journal text is stored in your browser’s local storage. Meaning Catalog does not receive it. The journal page does not load our Google Analytics or AdSense advertising scripts. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view it, and clearing browser data may erase it. Use Export JSON if you need a backup.
Updated October 2, 2026: advertising code is excluded from the journal page; this does not change local storage, backup files, or your access to the journal.
Contact email
Messages sent to the public contact address are delivered through Gmail, so Google processes the sender address and message content as part of its email service. Meaning Catalog uses messages to review and respond to requests. We do not publish them, add them to the dream catalog, or use them as testimonials without separate permission. See the contact and corrections page before sending sensitive information.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Meaning Catalog includes Google AdSense technology. Ads can be shown only after Google approves the site for advertising. When advertising is active, third-party advertising vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to Meaning Catalog or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites. Where permitted, they may also use local storage, IP addresses, device and browser information, and ad interaction data to deliver, measure, secure, and personalize advertising.
Google describes how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services in its partner-sites privacy notice. Optional Google Analytics choices are separate from advertising choices. Current commercial relationships and future affiliate rules are listed in the monetization policy.
Optional Google Analytics
We load Google Analytics only after you choose “Allow analytics.” It measures visits to public guides and research pages on meaningcatalog.com using page addresses, page titles, referring website origins, cookie identifiers, and device and browser information. Google receives network information when your browser contacts its service. These measurements help us assess which public resources are used; they are not a complete count of all readers.
We do not load Analytics in the private journal or use it to collect journal text, Navigator choices, emotions, contact messages, or journal exports. Pages with URL query strings or fragments are excluded from our measurement. Automated form, site-search, scroll and outbound-click measurement is disabled. Google signals and advertising-personalization signals are disabled for this implementation.
Your allow/reject choice is saved in this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are configured with a 180-day lifetime without automatic renewal. You can use “Analytics choices” at the bottom of a public page to reject or allow later. Rejecting stops our Analytics collection and clears the Analytics cookies used by this implementation; withdrawal after loading refreshes the page. It does not erase data already processed by Google or change your advertising choices. Clearing browser storage also removes your saved choice—and can erase your private journal, so export your journal first.

Consent and advertising controls
Where consent is legally required, an advertising consent message may ask you to choose whether eligible advertising uses may proceed. You can turn off personalized advertising from Google through Google My Ad Center. AboutAds WebChoices offers choices for some participating third-party advertising vendors. Browser cookie settings provide another control, but these choices are separate from our optional Analytics setting. Refusing optional advertising uses does not change access to Meaning Catalog’s public editorial content.
If collection changes
Community submissions, accounts, cloud sync, research participation, or a separate analytics product will require an updated notice and, where appropriate, a distinct opt-in flow. We will not quietly convert private journal entries into a content or training dataset.
Medical privacy
Do not use this site for emergencies or to store medical records. Meaning Catalog is an educational reflection tool, not a healthcare provider or diagnostic service.
